Bob Thompson

As founder of The CFO Connection, Bob Thompson has spent the past nine years helping medium size companies grow and prosper. Serving as their part-time CFO, Bob has provided senior level expertise in finance, strategic planning and negotiation. Each year his experience has clearly shown that most smaller companies can make great advances with the professional support of an experienced CFO. As a result, Bob is now focused on expanding The CFO Connection into a national organization to meet the needs of companies across the United States.

Before founding The CFO Connection, Bob had a diverse career in financial management, culminating with 14 years of service at Munters Corporation, a multi-national, industrial equipment manufacturing and service company. As the chief financial officer for the Americas, Bob worked around the world to build and grow five separate air treatment technology equipment businesses. In the US, Bob oversaw the financial direction of six separate manufacturing operations, as well as Munters' nationwide, 40-office service sector company, Moisture Control Services.

Bob has also served as an interim manufacturing manager, improving throughput time and reducing inventory. Throughout his career, Bob has had responsibility for Information Technology. He also had managerial responsibility for the corporate Human Resources department. In his early career, Bob held positions as a corporate controller (for a family owned business), accounting manager and auditor. Bob holds and MBA from the University of MA and a B.S.B.A. from Boston College with a major in Accounting. He was among the top 5% who passed the Massachusetts C.P.A. examination at the first sitting.

David Wassenaar

David offers clients the benefit of more than 20 years of upper level financial, information technology and operational management experience, and has spent a significant portion of those years in entrepreneurial environments. Wassenaar has worked with start up companies and knows the challenges facing mid-size company operation.

Before joining The CFO Connection, Wassenaar served as a principal and owner of financial and information technology consulting firms located in Wisconsin and Missouri, assisting client companies with strategic planning, financial management, and the implementation of business information systems.

From 1979 to 1993, Wassenaar held the position of Chief Financial Officer with DCI Marketing of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was responsible for the Finance and IT Departments and served a key role in business development resulting in growth of over 500%.

Early in his career in public accounting, Wassenaar has developed a strong knowledge of business accounting systems from working extensively with several clients, including three years at The Miller Brewing Co. During this time, he performed operational reviews of property accounting, process cost accounting, marketing & advertising functions, IT systems design & control procedures

Wassenaar earned his B.A. in Accounting and Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He was certified as a CPA while working at Coopers & Lybrand, a national accounting firm.
