Bob Thompson, Founder and CEO
Bob Thompson
is the founder of The CFO Connection, a firm that provides senior level
expertise in finance, strategic planning and negotiation on a part-time
basis to growing companies. Before founding The CFO Connection, Bob had a
diverse career in financial management, culminating with 14 years of service
at Munters Corporation, a multi-national, industrial equipment manufacturing
and service company.
As the chief financial officer for the Americas, Bob worked extensively
with European and American senior management as well as divisional managers
throughout the United States to build five separate air treatment technology
equipment businesses. He also led three international organizational
development efforts, which culminated in Canadian, Mexican and Brazilian
operations.
Bob oversaw the financial direction of six separate manufacturing
operations, as well as Munters' nationwide, 40-office service sector
company, Moisture Control Services.
As the senior participant, Bob led corporate strategic sessions, helping
all divisional managers establish business plans that were both focused on
customer's needs and structured for accountability. He played a variety of
roles in numerous acquisition programs from initial due diligence activities
to contract approvals.
Bob has also served as an interim manufacturing manager, improving
throughput time and reducing inventory. Throughout his career, Bob has had
responsibility for Information Technology. Most recently he was the project
manager responsible for installing an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning)
System which ran on an Oracle Data Base.
He also had managerial responsibility for the corporate Human Resources
department. In his early career, Bob held positions as a corporate
controller (for a family owned business), accounting manager and auditor. He
has broad skills as a financial manager, and is an expert in establishing,
and maximizing banking relationships.
Bob is a native of New England. He graduated from Boston College with a
B.S.B.A. with a major in Accounting. He earned his M.B.A at the Isenberg
School of Management, University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He received a
special award from the Massachusetts Society of CPA's for being among the
top 5% who passed the C.P.A. examination at the first sitting. Before
starting his business career, he served as a Lieutenant in the US Navy.
